WVONGA Header final Subpage

It has been our pleasure to serve the West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the past nearly four years, collectively.  During our respective tenure, each of us has worked diligently to represent the organization with professionalism and to keep the organization effective in its mission during a frequently evolving landscape.

Together with the Board of Directors, we have been called upon to assist the organization navigate through unchartered waters.  With the sudden and unexpected passing of Corky DeMarco, our long tenured executive director, our collective task of steering the organization as your Board leadership has taken on a very personal connotation as well.  WVONGA has been a very strong organization for many years and that trend will continue in the face of difficult times, but only with YOUR help.  We cannot recall a meeting of this association that is more important than the upcoming Annual Meeting, October 10-12, at Oglebay Resort.  Accordingly, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of the upcoming Annual Meeting and encourage you to register now and attend.  Our organization is as strong as its members and we have GREAT members!  Your attendance at the Annual Meeting presents the opportunity for you to support our collective industry and to learn more about the future direction of WVONGA – a future that has significant potential with your support!

In conjunction with this call to attend the Annual Meeting, we also announce the establishment of The DeMarco Family Flood Relief Trust Fund, which will be managed by Huntington Bank.  As you likely know, the DeMarco family was among the thousands of individuals affected by the devastating flooding on June 23, 2016.  During the period following the flood leading up to July 7, 2016, the day we all learned the sad news of Corky’s passing, Corky and his family were dealing with the aftermath of the flooding and its impact on their family home.  In fact, just after Corky’s passing, Catherine learned that their home was no longer habitable and that the assistance offered by state and federal relief agencies was inadequate given the total loss of the home and property.  This realization has materially affected Corky’s family.  In the immediate aftermath of the flooding, our members demonstrated empathy and support for the victims by delivering on the ground support for victims and by contributing over $350,000 in financial aid to flood relief efforts.  The DeMarco Family Flood Relief Fund presents an opportunity for us all to make monetary contributions to aid the family of one of our own – one who has supported us all in our business endeavors for many years.  We hope that you will join us in supporting this effort through personal or corporate donations to the DeMarco Family Flood Relief Fund.  In addition, a portion of the registration fee for the October 12 golf outing will be contributed to the relief fund.

We encourage you to learn more about the Annual Meeting and ask that you register to attend soon as the meeting is just days away.

We also encourage you to consider making a monetary gift to The DeMarco Family Flood Relief Trust Fund.  Our goal is to raise a minimum of $25,000 in relief aid to Corky’s family.

More information about the fund will be available during the Annual Meeting or you may call WVONGA staff at 304-343-1609.  We look forward to seeing you all at the Annual Meeting!

Kevin Ellis, President | Bob Orndorff, Immediate Past President
